MEASURING ACROSS FLOCK PERFORMANCE
Using ** CARCASE PLUS **
The performance information presented on this web site is based on the Carcase Plus index and Post Weaning EBVs.
This index is calculated from EBVs based only on Post Weaning data (6 months) and as such we feel this is the most relative information to our breeding program. We have been scanning our lambs between Nov-Jan for a number of years now, as this is the age at which they really need to be performing. Furthermore, studs with strong linkages to us have also been doing the same. Subsequently, we believe this index to be an accurate genetic evaluation of our sheep and it will continue to be an important source of information for us.
Lambplan scanning is conducted in November and January annually by Advance Livestock Services, Phone (03) 5573 3201 - Steve Milne, Accredited Lambplan operator.

Accelerator Jivet Program
Founded in 2000.
This fledgling stud has been set up in conjunction with AJ&JD Donnan "ANDEN" and IG&JO Pfeiffer "BURWOOD", to facilitate the use of Juvenile In-Vitro Embryo Transfer (JIVET) technology.
JIVET is performed on lambs between 4 & 10 weeks of age and is essentially a multi-ovulation, harvest, fertilize and implant program. In terms of generation turnover we are achieving nearly two per annum.
This has ultimately meant that by using this method of breeding we have been able to fast track the improvement of our elite genetic material four fold. The descendants of this program are anticipated to filter down through the participating studs to significantly advance our entire flocks in commercially driven traits of performance - high growth and lean meat yield.

One of the first generation lambs pictured at 10 months old when sold to a syndicate including NZ interests for an Australian Record Price of $7500 (ram lamb category) at the Detpa Grove Annual Sale 2001.
Mivet Program
Mivet is simply the JIVET technology now adapted for mature ewes.
These ten lambs are the result of our first Mivet flush. They are out of the ewe 970015 and are sired by MR 970009 (a Poll Dorset x Suffolk ram). Ram 4th from left '020360' excelled in our commercial trial.
